QMUL have teamed up with The British Heart Foundation (BHF) to tackle the waste problem that the University faces throughout the year, particularly during move in and move out weekends.
BHF have installed 3 banks where students can donate unwanted clothes, shoes, books, electrical items and more. The items are then picked up and delivered to local BHF charity shops where they are sold to raise money for lifesaving research. So not only are you reducing waste to landfill, you are also raising valuable funds!
You can find the donation banks in the following locations;
- Near the Lock Keepers Cottage
- Between Maynard House and Varey House
- Between Beaumont Court and Creed Court
Students (and staff!) can put the following items in the banks;
- Electrical items
Please be careful not to put any of the following though… blankets, carpets, cushions, glass, metal, paper, pillows, duvets, rags, rubbish, rugs or VHS video tapes.
For more information on additional waste disposal, check out the dedicated waste page on the Sustainability Website.
